This is probably going to sound insufferable smarmy, but I agree with everything you say, I just wish I could have not only pinpointed it but also been able to phrase it this well. And I think I've actually told you this before. Season 2 is where everything starts to get emotionally hard hitting, resulting in having us all hooked on BtVS by the end of the season.
