freecat15: (got it done)
I experimented a little with GIMP yesterday, which is still really new to me. I wanted to create an icon, but since it's way to small to be effective as icon, but I still like it, I thought I post it. The icon I did use instead (see this post) was much easier and faster done...(grumble, grumble...), but I like this one more (even if I know it's nothing special).

OH - Very NICE - I actually love doing 300x300, what I like to call Super Icons. If I knew anything about starting a community that featured Super Icons I would. In my "Old Days" there were transparencies that were called Super Slides 2x2 inches. While I like creating Icons, I avoided doing them for years due to the size limitation and what it does to the details. Like that wonder green shadow you used, it would look very different on an icon - if you could even still see it.

We should do something together -

Oh, thank you! This coming from you means a lot to me! My appreciation for what you are doing and what you achieve has rocketed sky high after having worked with GIMP now!

Super Icon is a great word for it, and I can really see now why one would avoid doing icons - it limits the possibilities drastically. All the more I admire what people manage to do with this tiny space...the shadow isn't visible anymore btw.

A Super Icon comm is a great idea!

Agree - one of the good things about working with the tiny size is that it forces one to be selective with composition - I admire very much what people create with icons.

BTW - love your text.

Thank you so much! I'm stoked that I get responses to that, seeing that I'm a raw beginner...
I'm happy you like it!

I like what you did with the colour splashes on black & white! But I can see how icon-size would fail to bring them out.

Thank you, dutchess! It's beyond me how one can do whole compositions in an icon, like you did for example with this wonderful thing...I'm happy (and proud :) ) you like what I did!
User [livejournal.com profile] chasingdemons referenced to your post from The Sunnydale Herald Newsletter, Friday, May 6, 2016 (http://su-herald.livejournal.com/870895.html) saying: [...] [Images, Audio & Video] Artwork: Got it Done [...]

I like it! Too bad that it probably wouldn't work as an icon. It would have been a good one.

Thank you! Yeah, well, I gained experience...(and have already used it today...)
I'm glad you like it!

Thank you ! :)
It was my second try to do anything with GIMP, which I downloaded just last weekend. I'm still finding my way around, so I'm happy about the response!
